A Bachelor In Paradise Producer Had The Most Athletic Tackle I've Ever Seen When Breaking Up A Fight Between Two Blacked Out Contestants

I’m not going to bore you with the details of the fight because that’s not the point of this blog. That and a lot of people in this office watch the show and I don’t want to upset them by taking sides. The point of this blog is to bring attention to two things. One is the fact that whoever that producer is deserves a raise and possibly a try out by an NFL team. He looked like Giannis Antetokounmpo jumping over Hardaway Jr. The situation was neutralized before it even started, which is a real shame because they should’ve let them fight. Having worked in TV I can tell you that ninety percent of the time, the people who are fighting look to make sure security is there first. That’s why the guy with long hair threw the drink instead of a punch. Granted, he probably wasn’t expecting a spider monkey to tackle him out of nowhere, but who cares.

The next point I’d like to make, which may or may not be known to consumers of reality TV, is that every contestant on the show is drunk…all the time. Like not just have a few drinks to loosen up drunk. Blacked out drunk. Next time you watch any sort of reality TV show that involves people competing for something, look at how many shots there are of people drinking. You won’t be able to un see it.

I used to work on a show that started filming at 10:00 AM and the first thing we did was get our talent drinks. The dunker they were, the more emotional and volatile they became and the better the show turned out.  Reality shows are about exploitation. Some of them (like the Bachelor) claim that there’s a two drink per hour minimum but that’s bullshit. You don’t openly weep in front of a camera on national television unless you’re blacked out. If you understand this the entire show becomes a comedy. All the serious, high stakes conversations become a joke.

I’m not trying to ruin reality TV for anyone, I’m just trying to educate. So, to bring it full circle, yeah it was a great tackle but the thing that makes it even better is that the contestants aren’t even going to remember it.

PS: To quote Michael Scott, “If I had a gun with two bullets and was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Leo…I’d shoot Leo twice.”
